Hybrid E&S Property Underwriter

Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter – E&S Property Zurich is currently looking to hire an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter – E&S Property to join our team. This position may be based in Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, or New York City, with the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule. The role requires in‑office/market presence three days per week and involves market‑facing activities to meet agents and brokers. Responsibilities Serve as a customer industry advocate, improving the customer experience by understanding their risk and offering best end‑to‑end insurance solutions. Use a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing. Leverage risk insights, data, and models to drive informed decisions at point of sale. Engage in market‑facing and production within the E&S Standard Property group. Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manual rules. Work within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments. Underwriting Specialist – Required Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing. High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an associate degree and 1 or more years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an associate degree and 4 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support. Knowledge of lines of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines. Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business. Experience with Microsoft Office. Executive Underwriter – Required Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing. High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an associate degree and 3 or more years of experience in underwriting or market‑facing. Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an associate degree and 8 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. Experience in E&S Property underwriting. Strong negotiation skills and wholesale broker relationships nationwide. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Pay and Benefits Your pay is based on role, location, skills, and experience, and may include bonuses and merit increases. Salary ranges: Underwriting Specialist $75,000–$125,000 (10% short‑term incentive); Executive Underwriter $100,000–$165,000 (30% incentive plan). Additional benefits include comprehensive health, dental, vision, retirement, and paid time off. Locations & Schedule Locations: Chicago, IL; Atlanta, GA; New York, NY.
