Senior Director, Software Engineering - Data Platforms

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in data engineering concepts, plus 12+ years of applied experience
• 8+ years leading technologists and software engineers to manage, anticipate, and resolve complex technical issues within the domain
• Hands-on experience in data engineering development, testing, and automation
• Practical experience with Databricks, DBX, PySpark, Spark, cloud platforms, Terraform, Kafka, Python or Scala, Glue or EMR, and AI developer automation tools for unit testing
• Experience with BI consumption tools such as Sigma, Genie, and Tableau SaaS
• Ability to manage governance with Unity Catalog and data access with Immuta
• Experience building and leading cross-functional teams of technologists
• Experience working with internet-scale data volume and size
• Experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
• Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager
• Experience with big data technologies and complex data processing requirements
• Experience building data pipelines and platforms in the cloud, including AWS S3, Databricks, GCP, and Azure
• Hands-on coding experience at the source code level
• Financial services experience is preferred

• Build data pipeline and architecture solutions that can be reused across multiple businesses and easily adapted
• Promote strong data production practices across extraction, transformation, reconciliation, data quality, and security
• Apply test-driven and data-driven development approaches
• Design modular, repeatable frameworks to create a data production factory and reduce ad hoc data generation
• Lead data engineering scrum teams to deliver functional technology goals and influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and data technology
• Partner with Product and Architecture on strategic decisions affecting resources, budget, operations, and process implementation
• Maintain code-level accountability for SDLC, design patterns, and engineer upskilling
• Modernize data platforms to improve stability, timeliness, completeness, quality, security, FinOps, operational excellence, and ease of consumption
• Own governance decisions, control obligations, and success measures such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations

• Transform traditional HR and employee experience capabilities into scalable modern data product offerings
