PRN RN: Flexible Community Health Outreach

Overview Registered Nurse – PRN (Per Diem) at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. Responsibility Summary Perform comprehensive nursing assessment and reassessment of patients. Develop, coordinate, and evaluate individualized care plans based on assessment data, diagnoses, lab results, physician orders, protocols, and standards of care. Provide and document nursing interventions, including medication administration, IV fluids, nutrition, and specialized care such as restraints, pain management, and abuse assessment. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, communicate accurately during hand–off reports, and clarify physician orders. Document patient status and changes, evaluate effectiveness of interventions, and modify plans as needed. Practice specialty care for high–risk patients and maintain infection control and safety protocols. Implement restraints safely and monitor patients continuously. Assess pain and incorporate cultural/spiritual considerations into care planning. Recognize and report abuse or neglect indicators. Maintain professional performance, including continuous education, competency, and adherence to hospital policies. Adapt to changing workloads and support peers during shift changes or crisis situations. Exhibit professional and respectful behavior toward colleagues, patients, families, and staff. Follow infection control practices, maintain a safe environment, and manage consumables responsibly. Provide exceptional service by delivering timely, high‑quality care with courtesy and empathy. Participate in performance improvement and evidence‑based practice initiatives, including data collection and process improvement plans. Tailor care to age‑appropriate populations, including adults and geriatrics. Use resources efficiently and document utilization accurately. Qualifications Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri; must meet all state licensing requirements. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications (e.g., Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as required. Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred; experience in acute care or specialized patient populations is advantageous. Excellent clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including irregular and shift schedules, and respond to emergency situations. Job Specifications Working Conditions: Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, unpleasant environments, emergency and crisis situations; irregular hours. Physical Requirements: Occasional prolonged standing, walking, lifting, pushing, transferring, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
