About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Day, Evening Varying start times Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years of emergency/trauma level 1 experience required, must be recent within the past year. License: Valid RN license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATCN or TNCC, PALS or ENPC required. Competency testing for moderate conscious sedation is also required. Must-Have: Travelers must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving the offer, with a maximum of two attempts. Description: Unit has 60 beds, including 14 fast track beds. There is bedside triage available. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:3-4. Charge nurses and unit secretaries are present. Paramedics can perform IV duties, and nurse aides assist with technical duties. Minimum requirement of four weekend shifts per schedule period. Two of three major holidays must be worked during the holiday season. Scrub color is navy. Telehealth services utilize GE Lifepacks monitors. Ventilators used include Puritan Bennett 840, Dräger, Vision BiPAP, and V60s models. On-site hospitalists or intensivists available, with 2-6 physicians and 2-4 midlevel providers. IV team is on-site and can start IVs. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Common patient diagnoses include trauma, motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, blunt and piercing trauma, strokes, heart attacks, and high-risk obstetric cases. There is an 11% pediatrics population. Patients younger than 15 are stabilized and transferred. Facility experiences approximately 80,000 visits per year. It is a certified chest pain center and stroke center. Lab draws are performed unless central line access is needed. Floating between departments may be required. Floor-specific orientation typically lasts 2-3 days. Candidates may not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility within the past year. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts during the assignment. Charting system utilized is Cerner.
