Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring a PA or compact RN license and prior Med/Surg unit experience.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital environment
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
• Patient ratio of 1:6

Requirements

• Active PA or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (PALS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and LTAC experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral/central line care
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and dysrhythmia management
• Experience with wound care, isolation precautions/PPE, and IV insulin protocols
• One supervisory reference from within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

• Care for Med/Surg, MS/Tele, orthopedic, ortho trauma, total joint replacement, renal, and plastics patient populations
• Must complete PA fingerprinting and Childline registration promptly upon signing contract
• Must complete lab work within 72 hours of signing contract
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Previous permanent or per diem employees at Penn Highlands Healthcare must have been separated for at least 18 months before returning as a traveler
