Position Overview:

Your Role:
The primary duty of the Cardiovascular Technician RCIS is to support the technical elements of invasive cardiovascular procedures, working under the guidance of the supervisor and physician.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree with a focus on science, or equivalent healthcare experience
  • Licenses and/or Certifications (Required and Preferred)
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • RCIS certification must be obtained within six months of hire
  • ARRT and TX RT(R) are required if RCIS certification is not held

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the training and orientation of new staff and students.
  • Support the physician as a monitor technician during procedures in the cath lab by interpreting basic and advanced dysrhythmias and EKGs, operating physiological recorders, and analyzing normal and abnormal pressures and waveforms.
  • Act as a scrub technician during most procedures, operating imaging equipment under the physician's direction.
  • Serve as a circulator for certain diagnostic procedures, monitoring patient status, providing supplies to the scrub technician, and managing imaging equipment as directed by the physician.
  • Facilitate patient transport to and from the department.
  • Maintain cleanliness and stock levels in the cath lab.
  • Exhibit knowledge of medications and their dosages.
  • Demonstrate a theoretical understanding of procedures.
  • Order supplies for the cath lab and manage inventory effectively.
  • Ensure post-procedure safety by removing arterial and/or venous sheaths, maintaining hemostasis, and monitoring patient status.
  • Prepare the lab for procedures by setting up and ensuring sterile techniques are followed.
  • Get patients ready for procedures by shaving, prepping, and marking arterial pulses.
  • Troubleshoot any equipment issues that arise.
