Accounts Payable Assistant

Job Position: Accounts Payable Assistant Location: McHenry, IL 60050 Pay Rate: Up to $26.50/hr Shift: 1st shift, Mon‑Fri, 8:00 a.m. to 4:40 p.m. Description: The Accounts Payable Assistant is a temporary, 100% onsite position located in McHenry, IL. This role supports the organization’s accounts payable function by ensuring vendor invoices are processed accurately, payments are completed on time, and financial records are maintained according to company procedures. This position is a strong fit for a detail-oriented candidate with accounts payable experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced accounting environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with ERP systems, reviewing invoices for accuracy, communicating with managers for approvals, and supporting weekly disbursement processing. Accounts Payable Assistant Duties and Responsibilities Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner according to company procedures. Average processing approximately 150–200 invoices per week. Obtain required approvals for invoices from managers at all levels. Match receivers and packing slips to invoices using a 3‑way match when applicable. Review invoices for mathematical accuracy. Verify general ledger account assignments for invoice accuracy. Process invoices for payment in the ERP system. Identify 1099 reportable transactions when applicable. Maintain accounts payable vendor files for assigned accounts. Obtain required government forms related to vendors. Process weekly disbursements, including ACH, wire, check, and credit card payments. Provide backup support for accounts payable team members as needed. Report any suspicious activity to upper management. Accounts Payable Assistant Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma or GED required. 2–3 years of accounts payable experience required. 2–3 years of ERP system experience required; SAP experience preferred. Accounting experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred. Strong understanding of accounts payable functions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities. Strong problem‑solving and logical thinking skills.Ability to communicate professionally with managers and team members.
