Senior Software Engineer, Data Pipeline

About The Role & Team The Data Pipeline team owns the core event ingestion and processing infrastructure that powers Amplitude's analytics product — handling more than 1 trillion events per month. We build and operate the systems responsible for real-time event ingestion, batch data ingestion, user identity resolution, privacy and GDPR compliance (user deletion, app deletion, event TTL, and self-serve data deletion), and the reliability of the pipeline end-to-end. As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll take on complex infrastructure challenges: designing for extreme throughput, optimizing for millisecond latencies, and building resilient systems that run at close to zero downtime. You'll also work closely with Product and customers to shape the strategy and roadmap for our core product and new features. Our stack is primarily Java and Python, running on Kafka, Temporal, DynamoDB, Amazon S3, Kubernetes, and Terraform. This is a senior role, so beyond your own delivery you'll be a technical anchor for the team: leading design discussions, mentoring engineers, and raising the bar for how we build.
