Each year, we sponsor around 20 employees through the Santa Fe College HVAC Apprentice Program so they can earn a 4 year HVAC or Plumbing Apprenticeship Certificate. These Team members work full time for our company and make a commitment to the 4 year program by attending classes 2 days a week for 4 years. Comfort Temp also houses many in-house training opportunities to support our team’s growth in the trade taught by senior staff or certified instructors with plans to launch our own Comfort Academy Training Program by the end of 2024! Our relationships with our wonderful vendors also enable Comfort Temp to house training programs brought in by various vendors to keep our team on the cutting edge of new technology or advancements in systems. Position Summary The Accounts Payable & Receivable Specialist manages both sides of the transaction cycle: making sure vendor invoices are accurate, approved, and paid on time, and making sure customers are billed correctly and payments are posted and collected. The role works closely with Purchasing, Project Management, Service, Warehouse, and Finance. Key Responsibilities Review, code, and enter vendor invoices; perform two- and three-way matching to purchase orders and receipts. Resolve invoice discrepancies and obtain approvals from internal teams before payment deadlines. Prepare scheduled check, ACH, and electronic payment runs under company authorization controls. Generate and distribute accurate customer invoices. Post and reconcile customer payments and monitor aging reports to ensure timely collection. Resolve billing issues, chargebacks, and payment discrepancies. Maintain accurate vendor and customer records and respond to account inquiries. Reconcile vendor statements and track credits, returns, and adjustments. Support month-end close and audits through AP and AR reconciliations and documentation. Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or general accounting. Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Foundation, Viewpoint, or Sage, and strong Excel skills. High attention to detail with high transaction volume and competing deadlines. Strong organization and ability to work independently. Professional written and verbal communication. Preferred Qualifications Accounts payable or receivable experience in the construction industry, preferably with an HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, or other specialty trade contractor. Familiarity with construction billing and payables, such as progress billing, retainage, lien waivers, and subcontractor compliance documentation. Purchase order experience, including working with POs, receiving documents, and resolving PO-to-invoice discrepancies with Purchasing and project teams. Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience with three-way matching, job-cost coding, or handling both AP and AR. Professional communication - works effectively with vendors, customers, and internal teams. Physical and Work Requirements Office-based work with frequent computer and phone use.
