For more information, visit nyulangone.org. Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem Registered Nurse PACU (Experienced Required, $75/hour). Responsibilities Carry out patient care responsibilities with emphasis on decision-making related to the steps in the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of expected outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Provide competent, safe, and compassionate care based on established NYU Langone Health Patient Care and Nursing Standards. Collaborate with the provider and interdisciplinary team to formulate and implement a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care; utilize principles of assignment and delegation in accordance with the NY State Nurse Practice Act. Demonstrate understanding of unit goals and participate in quality and safety improvement initiatives and unit-based quality measures (e.g., HAPU, CAUTI, CLABSI, Falls). Collect, assess, and document patient healthcare data; involve patient/family and interdisciplinary team to identify realistic and measurable outcomes. Prioritize care based on data collected; document assessments and reassessments in medical records. Coordinate safe, timely, and appropriate interventions; apply escalation processes as needed. Consider needs of specific age groups and cultural backgrounds in all patient care activities; document interventions per hospital standards. Educate patients and families regarding health status and the established plan of care; assess learning needs and implement an educational plan; document learning outcomes. Evaluate progress toward outcomes; involve patient/family and interdisciplinary team in evaluation; recognize changes in condition and document and evaluate interventions. Participate in unit activities to provide care in a healing and humane environment; contribute to unit throughput efficiencies and metrics. Comply with professional standards, state and regulatory requirements, and applicable outside agency requirements; demonstrate appropriate judgment in delegated activities. Identify activities within nursing scope and those that may be delegated to ancillary staff; participate in ongoing education and professional development; adhere to clinical practice guidelines. Attend unit practice councils and contribute to practice improvement efforts. Minimum Qualifications Current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association. Fluent written and spoken English. Required Licenses Registered Nurse license – NYS; Basic Life Support certification. Preferred Qualifications Membership in pertinent professional organizations preferred. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
