$16.90 - $17.75 per hour (Depending on training and experience) This is a part‑time, temporary position. About the Position Join the fun by overseeing recreational sports programs including soccer, basketball, softball, flag football, and futsal. The role involves creating a safe environment, understanding the rules of the sport, maintaining control of the game, instructing participants on proper procedures, and helping facilitate a positive experience for youth and adults. All staff must attend training courses, complete required certifications, and follow all Morro Bay Recreation Services policies and procedures. Qualifications Minimum 14 years of age at time of hire. Youth applicants must be in high school and able to obtain a work permit. Knowledge of the sport(s) is important for officiating games. Potential need to attend additional training or obtain certificates after hire, depending on the sport. Hours & Scheduling Part‑time, seasonal position. Games are typically on Saturdays, with some weekday after‑school games. Schedules are set on a merit basis through experience and aptitude. Selection & Testing Process Applications are reviewed for completeness, job‑related qualifications, and applicable certifications. Applicants with the most desirable qualifications are invited to interview. Successful candidates must pass a background check and fingerprinting (if 18 or older).
