Position Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary and Qualifications

The Float Pool Nurse collaborates with other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care from admission through discharge, ensuring quality outcomes, patient safety, and high satisfaction levels. The Float RN will provide care under the guidance of the Nurse Manager/Director in various departments, including Med/Surg, PCU, ICU, ED, Infusion, Stress, or PACU.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering direct patient care in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and all relevant regulations and facility policies.
  • Working collaboratively as part of a team to maintain effective communication with patients.
  • Consulting with nursing leadership as necessary to achieve optimal nursing outcomes.
  • Providing nursing care across all units.
  • Documenting patient data in electronic records in real-time.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
  • Exhibiting knowledge of AIDET principles during each patient interaction.
  • Maintaining regular and reliable attendance to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
  • Adhering to hospital safety and quality standards relevant to job performance and patient care.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience (ICU, ED, PACU).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of starting employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program, BSN or ADN required.
  • Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses or Trauma Nursing Core Course certification must be obtained within one year of starting employment.
