Job Summary:
The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for performing advanced analytical testing on raw materials, process samples, and finished metal products to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards. This role involves maintaining and troubleshooting analytical instruments, verifying testing methods, documenting results, and collaborating with production and quality assurance teams to maintain consistent product quality. The QC Chemist also ensures adherence to industry regulations such as cGMP, ISO, and EPA guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex analytical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished metal products using techniques such as ICP-OES, AAS, XRF, titration, and wet chemistry methods.
- Review, document, and interpret test results accurately in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Verify, validate, and develop analytical methods for new materials or modified processes.
- Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) or out-of-trend (OOT) results , identify root causes, and collaborate with Production and Quality Assurance teams to resolve quality issues.
- Ensure regulatory compliance , adhering to cGMP , ISO 9001 , EPA , and other applicable standards.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and ensure proper operation and documentation.
- Participate in internal and external audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Train and mentor junior laboratory staff , promoting adherence to laboratory safety and quality practices.
- Prepare and maintain accurate technical reports, records, and SOP documentation .
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) or higher in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Metallurgy, or a related scientific field .
- Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of laboratory experience, preferably in the metals, or manufacturing industry environment, with a strong background in analytical testing and quality control.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with analytical instruments (ICP, AAS, XRF, spectrophotometers, titrators).
- Knowledge of metallurgical and chemical analysis methods.
- Familiarity with cGMP, ISO 9001, and EPA standards.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy .
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across teams.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Google Suites)
Work Environment:
- Laboratory and production floor settings with exposure to chemicals and metal processing environments.
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and PPE requirements .
- Exposure to heat, noise, dust, fumes, and potentially hazardous substances
