Roadside Assistance Technician

Job Overview AAA Upper Marlboro Fleet is hiring for the following positions: Roadside Assistance Technician (Mobile Battery Technician or Tow Truck Technician) New associates are offered competitive hourly pay ($24.15 to $27.00, based on experience and position), 10% shift differential for 2nd shift work, and opportunities for overtime, monthly bonuses, and paid training. Responsibilities Provide lock‑out, fuel delivery, battery jump starts, and tire change services in accordance with established guidelines and quality control procedures. Operate passenger vehicles and light‑medium duty trucks (manual or automatic) from a service vehicle. Perform tow and recovery services, following safety guidelines. Sell and install car batteries (Mobile Battery Technician position). Communicate effectively with members to keep them informed and ensure safety. Enter call information accurately into in‑truck technology, process payments, handle cash, and complete reports as required. Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections, ensuring all are in safe operating condition and meet all requirements. Secure fleet vehicles and equipment at all times, including when not in use. Participate in special events (parades, television, radio, social media) to promote the brand as needed. Qualifications Must be at least 21 years old. Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license for the state of residence and maintenance of all required state and local licensing requirements. Ability to pass a physical examination required by the Department of Transportation and/or company policy. Minimum of 3 years of experience in an automotive/mechanical environment, or technical school, or 3 years in a sales and/or customer service role (preferred). Capability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 75 pounds, bend, kneel, and balance to change tires, inspect, and push vehicles, and use hand tools to provide service. Satisfactory pre‑ and post‑employment screening results, including criminal, drug, and motor‑vehicle screening. Successful completion of required departmental training courses within 60 days of hire and additional future training as required.
