Professor of Landscape Architecture

Responsibilities Harvard’s Department of Landscape Architecture seeks a full professor to deliver graduate‑level instruction and conduct advanced research with an emphasis on design. The successful candidate will teach in design studios, lectures, seminars, and workshops within an interdisciplinary design school, advise thesis and doctoral students, and actively collaborate with faculty in architecture, urban planning, and related disciplines. The role includes participation in collective projects of the school, and may involve program or departmental leadership responsibilities. Qualifications Applicants should hold at least a master‑level degree in landscape architecture or an equivalent field; a doctoral degree is considered an enhancement. Candidates must have a distinguished international reputation in landscape architecture, including a body of scholarship, design research, or professional practice that is recognized by peers as preeminent and enduring. Experience teaching at the graduate level, a strong commitment to advancing environmental and social justice, and expertise at the intersection of landscape architecture, urban design, and contemporary public‑realm design are essential. Desired research trajectories include innovative infrastructure design, climate change responses, human health and design, engagement with underserved communities, urban recreational landscapes, waste sites, and post‑industrial landscapes at multiple scales.
