Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technician

This role involves performing multi-craft maintenance work in a manufacturing facility that produces composite pipe, with a strong focus on both electrical and mechanical repairs. You will troubleshoot and repair a wide range of equipment, support new equipment installations, and perform welding and fabrication to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including drives, limit switches, three-phase electrical motors, emergency stop circuits, motor starter circuits up to 480V, and 24V DC circuits.
  • Build and wire control panel boxes and pull wire to equipment to support new and existing installations.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on production equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, chains, sprockets, and bearings.
  • Carry out welding and fabrication work to repair equipment, install new machinery, and maintain facility structures.
  • Maintain and repair helical winder machines, conveyors, material handling equipment, and saws to ensure reliable operation.
  • Diagnose equipment issues using electrical schematics and circuit diagrams and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Support installations of new equipment, including electrical, mechanical, and fabrication tasks as needed.
  • Perform maintenance repairs on weld parts and weld equipment to keep fabrication processes operational.
  • Follow safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices while working on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Document maintenance work performed and communicate equipment status to relevant team members.

Essential Skills

  • At least 4 years of maintenance experience with a strong focus on electrical repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing drives, electrical motors, and motor starter circuits.
  • Proficiency in building and wiring electrical control panels.
  • Demonstrated experience with mechanical repairs involving hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to weld and perform fabrication work on equipment and facility structures.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including working with circuits, schematics, and three-phase power.
  • Experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting of 24V DC circuits and up to 480V systems.
  • Proven ability to repair and maintain gearboxes, chains, sprockets, and bearings.
  • Capability to perform maintenance repair work on weld parts and weld equipment.
  • Comfort working on a variety of production equipment, including helical winder machines, conveyors, material handling equipment, and saws.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of 480V electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical prints and schematics.
  • Experience with installations of new equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Heavy fabrication and welding experience, including structural and equipment-related work.

Work Environment

This position is based in a non-air-conditioned, open-air shop environment typical of a heavy industrial manufacturing facility. You will work around production machinery such as helical winder machines, conveyors, material handling equipment, and saws, as well as welding and fabrication equipment. The role follows a 3rd shift schedule from 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as needed to support production demands. You should be comfortable working in an industrial setting with exposure to heat, noise, and active production operations, and prepared to follow all safety and protective equipment requirements appropriate to this environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
