Emergency Medical Technician Basic

Functions asamemberofthetransportteamand isresponsibleforthecareofill and injured patients.Providespatientcarewhile promoting safetyandefficiency.Performsunderthedirect supervision oftheMedicalControlPhysician,eitherbycontinuousradiocontactordirect consultation.Maintains necessarycertifications/licensures,skills,continuing educationand completecompetencychecks asrequired.Maintainsvehicles in amissionreadystatus. Essential Functions Complets skillscheckin atimelymannerwith accuracy. Maintains clean environment to include base and maintaining vehicles in a mission ready status. Accountable to check and verify established minimum transport vehicle supply levels, restock and clean at the beginning of the shift and as needed throughout the shift. Provides accurate and legible documentationofpatientcarewithattentionto detail that accuratelyreflectsassessmentand interventions.Ensuresthatchartisplacedinpatient'smedicalrecordin atimelymanner. Provides quality patientcare and educationin accordancewith policies and state regulations asapprovedbyMedicalDirectorandprofessionalstandardsofcare. Follows guidelinesandproceduresindependentlywhenMedicalControlisnotavailableviaradio ordirectconsultation. Assistswith otheractivitieswhich includes butnotlimitedtopublicrelationsand marketing activitieswhen needed. Followssafetyguidelinesandprocedures;ensuresseatbeltsarewornbycrewand passengers. Followsvehicle assignmentsasneeded/directedbydepartment.Maintainflexibilitywithvehicle assignmentsincluding the understandingthatvehicle assignmentsaresubjectto changefromapostedschedule based upontheneedsofthedepartment. Drive in accordancewith AtriumHealth policyaswell as localandstateregulations. Physical Requirements FTEishiredfor40hoursperweek-4,8,10or12-hourclinicalshifts.Inaddition,training, education andcall mayberequired.Day,nightandweekendworkisrequired.Mustbewilling to coveropenshiftsonshortnotice.Dutiesrequireworking,transportingand drivingin allweatherconditionsto include exposuretoextreme hot,coldandwetweather.Mustnothave anyphysical,emotionalormentalimpairmenttopreventthemfromriding,drivingor administeringpatientcare in atransportvehicle.Thisworkareamayhave crampedspace and be poorlylit.Noiselevelsaremoderateasassociatedwithworkingin andaroundemergencyvehicles.Hearing protectionisavailable andrequiredforusearound "hot"aircraft.Requires Education,Experienceand Certifications High schoolgraduateorGED required . CurrentNCEMTcertificationrequired. SC EMT-B and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician certifications preferred at time of hire; SC EMT-B and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician required within 90 days of hire and required to be maintained throughout employment.BCLS required.Approved trauma certificationrequiredwithin 6monthsofemploymentand required to be maintained throughout employment.Currentdriver'slicense(preferNC/SC)with nomorethan 6pointsonlicenserequired .M ust have had driver's license for a minimum of 2 yearsAtriumHealthapproved drivingcoursetobecompletedwithin thefirstweekofhireandmaintainedthroughout employment required.One-yearactivefieldpre-hospitalexperience preferred.Annual completionofsafetybriefingsandannualsurvival training required.Must have a valid driver's license and qualify as insurable by Atrium Health insurance carrier requirements for driving MedCenter Air vehicles. Must have an operational smartphone for use as communication device related to MedCenter air operations. PatientPopulationServed Demonstratesknowledgeoftheprinciplesofgrowthanddevelopmentanddemonstratestheskillsandcompetencyappropriatetotheages,culture,developmentalstages,andspecialneedsofthepatientpopulationserved. ProtectedHealthInformation Will limit access to protected health information (PHI) to the information reasonably necessary to do the job. Willshareinformationonlyonaneedtoknowbasisforworkpurposes. Accesstoverbal,writtenandelectronicPHIforthisjobhasbeendeterminedbasedonjoblevelandjobresponsibilitywithintheorganization.ComputerizedaccesstoPHIforthisjobhasbeendeterminedasdescribedaboveandiscontrolledviauserIDandpassword.
