CNC Machinist

Job DescriptionJOB REQUIREMENTS• Verifies proper quality documents and other paperwork is present prior to start of work• Completes Dimensional reports and machine logs for all items machined• Operates a forklift and lifting devices for movement of parts• Communicates with supervisor, planners, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel as it relates to the job• Necessary PPE should be worn all time as per JHA and task requirement• Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs• Must be able to pass a physical, drug test, and background checkBEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES• Must be adaptable to changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events• Ability to work effectively with different people and teams of people by putting others to ease• Staying on task and following the procedures without deviation• Must be able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment• Team Player• Communication SkillsTECHNICAL COMPETENCIES• Knowledge of editing NC programs• Knowledge of CNC Machine setup• Knowledge of parts quality inspection• Read and understand blueprints• Knowledge of dimension and tolerance measurements• Knowledge of measurement instruments• Basic Computer knowledge• Working knowledge of various tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, and insert used on various machines• Advanced knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensions• Advanced knowledge of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Pre-NOV relevant experience (years of service) may be considered for vacation accruals.All regular full-time employees receive up to 11 paid holidays per year.ResponsibilitiesPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES• Under the direction of a supervisor and/or experienced machinist, responsible for quality parts produced on CNC machines such as, but not limited, to lathes and milling machines in a timely, safe and efficient manner.• Operate, perform set-up changes and first article inspections on production runs utilizing CNC Machines.• Load parts utilizing overhead lifting equipment, proving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.• Identify problems before production runs, then start and observe machine operation to detect any other malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions and adjust machine controls or control media as required.• Read blueprints, precision measuring instruments and job orders to determine dimensions, tolerance and tooling requirements.• Maintain knowledge of dimensions and tolerances for tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and cutting tools to be used.• Prove out new programs and make simple edits of NC programs on at least one or more numerically controlled machines.• Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.• Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.• Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES• Operate forklift as needed• Operate Overhead CranesQualificationsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS• High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
