Automation & Controls Technician | 1st shift | $30 - 50/hr

Job Description

The Automation & Controls Technician designs, programs, tests, and maintains industrial automation systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient machine operation. This role focuses on PLC and HMI programming, electrical troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automated equipment in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Program, test, and debug PLC and HMI code (such as Allen-Bradley systems) to ensure reliable and stable machine operation.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and control system issues, including sensors, actuators, motors, and related automation components.
• Design automation solutions by creating control systems, electrical schematics, and panel layouts for new machinery and upgrades.
• Install new automated equipment, including wiring, control panels, and field devices, ensuring proper integration with existing systems.
• Perform regular preventive and corrective maintenance on existing machines and automation systems, including software updates and hardware replacements.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&ID drawings, technical manuals, and blueprints to understand system design and troubleshoot issues.
• Collaborate with machine operators and maintenance staff to optimize automation processes, improve productivity, and enhance equipment performance.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, including manuals, software specifications, and validation records to support regulatory compliance.
• Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to evaluate system performance, identify faults, and verify proper operation after repairs or modifications.
• Apply and follow established safety protocols and electrical standards during installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using diagnostic and calibration tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and calibrators to test sensors, transducers, and valves.
• Background in robotics and automated machinery integration.
• Mechanical aptitude for working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems in conjunction with electrical controls.
• Comfort working with technical manuals and validation documentation to support regulatory and quality requirements.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with operations and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily on a first-shift schedule in an industrial production setting with automated machinery and control systems. You will work around electrical panels, sensors, actuators, motors, robotics, and hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and calibrators. The environment emphasizes adherence to electrical safety standards and regulatory compliance, with a focus on structured documentation and safe work practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Weatherford, OK.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Weatherford,OK.
