Job description:
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Mid-Level Android Native Developer to join our dynamic mobile development team. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in Android development, experience with the full mobile development lifecycle, and a passion for creating high-quality, user-friendly applications. As a Mid-Level Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining native Android applications, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative mobile solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and/or Java.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and other developers to conceptualize, build, test, and release apps.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and debug to optimize performance and ensure the best possible user experience.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with the team.
• Continuously Client, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
• Ensure applications meet quality standards through unit testing, integration testing, and automated testing.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mobile development.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in Android development.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java.
• Strong understanding of the Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes.
• Experience with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services.
• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications.
• Solid understanding of mobile application architectures, such as MVP, MVVM, and Clean Architecture.
• Experience with third-party libraries and APIs.
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Experience with Google Play Console for app deployment and management.
• Familiarity with modern development tools like Android Studio and Gradle.
• Contributions to open-source projects or personal projects showcasing your skills.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages and frameworks is a plus.

Generalized Scope of Work

• General Summary:
  • Fix all gaps in existing Passkey product flows (ios android (other OS))
  • Improving enrollment rate / expand the ramp
  • Improving Passkey login experiences
  • Improving the E2E settings and passkey experiences (web/native/platform/settings/risk & Strategy, control risk and policy activations/deactivation)
  • Scale to all integration touchpoints (can we be more specific?)

• Passkey registration basics:

• Enable Passkey registration on platforms where implementation is possible but missing (e.g. All browsers on Windows, Chrome/Firefox on MacOS, Password Managers)
• Begin Passkey registration in current login/onboarding flows where missing (across paypal.com and consumer app in Horizon 2, and then potentially XO in Horizon 3)
• Fix UX issues with existing Passkey registration experiences

• Passkey login basics:

• Enable Passkey login on platforms where implementation is possible but missing (e.g. All browsers on Windows, Firefox on MacOS, Password Manager)
• Fix UX issues with existing Passkey login experiences (e.g. edge cases where Passkey prompts are shown even when a Passkey is not available)

• Passkey login optimizations:

• Improve coverage of buyer pre-identification for Passkey login (Target experience: User shown passkey login prompt with no click)
• Implement Auto-fill experiences for Passkey Login where implementation is possible but missing
  • Auto-focus + Conditional UI (Target experience: User shown passkey auto-fill prompt with no click)
  • Conditional UI only (Target experience: User clicks email field to be shown passkey auto-fill prompt)
