Summary SRP is seeking a motivated College Intern to support our teams while gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. This internship offers students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects that support SRP's commitment to delivering reliable, sustainable water and power services. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, contribute to meaningful work, and develop technical and professional skills relevant to their field of study. The role is designed to foster learning, teamwork, and innovation while providing exposure to SRP's operations and culture.
This position serves as a team member in an entry-level position and works under direct supervision to support the Records and Information Governance (RIG) Department. Individual projects will be assigned to the student intern to enhance learning outcomes. The main responsibilities of the position involve customer support and collaboration with various business areas; facilitation of paper records handling and box management; assists, designs, develops, recommends and implements records management and compliance systems, procedures, and activities. Assists with special records related research and projects. The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department's needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.
What You'll Do
- Facilitates proper box management/paper records handling
- Assists with the development, maintenance, implementation, dissemination/publication and update of the SRP Records Retention Schedule
- Develops, maintains and disseminates departmental operating procedures
- Identifies and documents problems in work processes, suggest improvements, and implements approved recommendations
- Works with records and information management systems and applications, such as OpenText Content Server (and other enterprise content management solutions), Microsoft365 (Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook), PowerBI
- Develops, maintains and provides reports for users and management as necessary
- Works with departments to review and process inventories and gain approval for disposition of records
- Coordinates transfer of records amongst business areas and to and from off-site storage facility, ensure proper identification, tracking and security
- Assists with development of training materials and provides training for end-users and new team members
- Provides support, scheduling, tracking, and reporting for electronic disposition of records and information
- Provides research, assistance and guidance to internal stakeholders regarding records and information management
- Assists with assessing and tracking compliance to internal standards
- Maintains knowledge and awareness of current trends, methods and technologies related to records and information management
- Supports projects and initiatives in collaboration with the RIG analysts
Education A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
Additional Requirements and Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:
This position requires the student intern to work a minimum of 25 hours per week between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Up to 40 work hours are available weekly if the student's school schedule permits. With good work performance, this position can last until college graduation. Student Interns MUST be enrolled in a minimum of 6 college credits 100 level or higher (exception for Summer Session).

- Ability to interface with all levels of staff, including senior staff, to accomplish assigned duties
- Ability to work with external contacts (vendors, agencies, legal counsel, etc.)

- Ability to work well with ambiguity and under pressure
- Handles confidential/sensitive information with discretion
The Student Intern Program requires participants to work a minimum of 15 hours per week and up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Scheduled hours may vary based on departmental needs and hiring manager's discretion, provided hours worked remain within the 1540 hour weekly range.
Hybrid Workplace SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
