A company in West LA is hiring a Staff Accountant on a part-time basis . This role will be onsite Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM . This position will support loan-related transaction processing, reconciliations, and month-end accounting activities . The role is responsible for recording daily loan servicing activity, processing disbursements and payoffs, preparing borrower notices and statements, and ensuring servicing activity is accurately reconciled to accounting records and the general ledger. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting operations, reconciliations, and transaction processing within a lending, banking, or real estate environment .
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and record daily loan-related transactions, including interest payments, principal payments, escrow disbursements, and other servicing activities.
- Record construction loan disbursements in accordance with established procedures.
- Process loan payoff payments and coordinate related activity with internal departments.
- Track executed loan extension documents and monitor outstanding signatures on extension packages.
- Record extension-related fees and payments accurately in the appropriate systems.
- Prepare and distribute monthly borrower billing statements.
- Prepare and distribute maturity notices and delinquency notices in accordance with servicing requirements.
- Ensure all servicing and accounting transactions are complete, accurate, and properly documented.
- Perform month-end balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare and post journal entries and support general ledger activity.
- Complete end-of-day balancing procedures and reconcile loan servicing activity to accounting records and the general ledger.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
- 2+ years of accounting, loan operations, loan servicing, or related finance experience.
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger support.
- Familiarity with processing payments, payoffs, disbursements, and borrower statements or notices.
- Understanding of construction loan funding and disbursement tracking is preferred.
- Experience working in banking, lending, commercial real estate, or a similar financial services environment is preferred.
- Proficiency with accounting systems, ERP platforms such as NetSuite or similar, and loan servicing systems.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
