Full Stack Engineer
Location - SoHo, New York, NY - On-site, 5 Days Per Week)
Compensation - $175,000 - $250,000 Base + 0.2-0.5% Equity

As a Full Stack Engineer, you'll build highly scalable consumer experiences across frontend applications, backend infrastructure, AI-powered recommendation systems, and data pipelines while working directly with the CEO and a small elite engineering team.

What You'll Do

• Build and own full-stack product features across Alta's AI-powered shopping platform
• Develop beautiful, high-performance frontend experiences using React, Next.js, and modern web technologies
• Design and build scalable backend services using Python, Node.js, and TypeScript
• Scale backend infrastructure supporting millions of user interactions and image processing workloads
• Build and improve recommendation systems powering personalized shopping experiences and social discovery
• Develop data pipelines (ETL) to process product catalogs from thousands of brands
• Work on AI-powered features including virtual try-on, outfit generation, personalization, and ranking algorithms
• Ship consumer-facing features rapidly through experimentation, A/B testing, and continuous iteration
• Partner closely with Product, Design, AI, and Leadership to launch impactful customer experiences
• Improve product performance, scalability, reliability, and engineering quality
• Contribute to architecture decisions across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and AI-powered product systems
• Translate customer feedback into polished user experiences with exceptional attention to detail

Ideal Candidate Background
Experience Requirements

• 2-6 years of full-stack software engineering experience
• Experience building consumer-facing products at scale
• Experience working at VC-backed startups or notable technology companies
• Experience owning features end-to-end from concept through production
• Experience building high-growth consumer products with measurable user impact
• Experience operating in fast-moving startup environments
• Strong product ownership with demonstrated engineering execution
• Experience building data-heavy applications preferred

Technical Requirements

• Strong proficiency with React, Next.js, TypeScript, Python, and Node.js
• Experience building scalable frontend applications with exceptional user experience
• Experience designing backend APIs and production infrastructure
• Strong understanding of modern web architecture and software engineering best practices
• Experience working with AI-powered products, recommendation systems, or computer vision applications preferred
• Experience building ETL pipelines and large-scale data processing systems
• Familiarity with SwiftUI or iOS development is a plus
• Experience working with experimentation frameworks and A/B testing
• Ability to work across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and data engineering
• Strong engineering fundamentals across scalability, performance, and maintainability

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another technical discipline from a top engineering program preferred
• Strong academic background from a Top-30 Computer Science university preferred
• Exceptional candidates with outstanding technical achievements considered

• Base Salary: $175,000 - $250,000
