About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a hospital setting required License: Active nursing license in good standing (compact if indicated) Certifications: BLS required, ACLS required, current NIH certification (must be certified annually) Must-Have: 2 years ICU experience Description: 2 years of experience in a hospital setting is required. Must have a valid nursing license. BLS and ACLS certifications are required. The unit has 10 beds with patient ratios of 2:1 and 3:1. Staffing includes Clinical Nurse Coordinators, RNs, PCTs, and Nurse Externs. Equipment used includes Philips Telemetry, Baxter pumps, iMobile, ventilators, and glucometers. Documentation is managed through Meditech Expanse. Scheduling requires working every other weekend with three 12-hour shifts. Floating to other units may occur as needed. Patient Experience requires at least 2 years of ICU experience. Advanced skills preferred include chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs, drains, post-dialysis assessment, central lines, blood transfusions, and ventilator management. Procedures performed on the unit include telemetry monitoring, paracentesis (physician led), BiPap, and therapeutic phlebotomy. This unit recognizes outstanding teamwork and patient care through various awards and prizes. The team embraces excellent interdisciplinary communication and collaboration. The unit is home to several travelers who have continued to extend contracts due to the supportive environment. A director, manager, and clinical educator provide full support to the unit. Team communication is facilitated through a messaging platform to celebrate achievements and share information.
