Paramedic

PAY RANGE:

Our starting compensation is the highest in the area. Annual salary increases are based on performance, not survival time and you're able to reach the top of the pay scale in five years, not twenty.

STARTING pay is $26-$32 an hour, $54K - $66K annually. To determine your starting pay, begin at $26.00/hr and add $0.50/hr for each year of verifiable work experience in grade.

POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:

Under the Supervisory Staff, the ideal Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (Paramedic) will perform duties associated with providing emergency and non-emergency care and transportation to the sick and injured in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITIES:

• Able to determine nature and extent of illness or injury.
• Able to establish priority for emergency care and render appropriate emergency care.
• Able to problem solve, remain calm and function in unpredictable and changing circumstances.
• Able to speak clearly in stressful situations.
• Able to collaborate and interact in a professional manner with other allied health and public safety personnel.
• Able to communicate clearly verbally, in writing, and using electronic media.
• Knowledge of basic and advanced EMS protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Must perform all job responsibilities in a manner that protects patient privacy.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid Driver License
• Driving record in compliance with company policy
• Current Massachusetts Paramedic certification
• CPR for Professional Rescuer/BCLS, ACLS and PALS certifications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The position requires significant physical strength and dexterity and the ability to function in very adverse environments with exposure to numerous safety risks typically found at emergency scenes. You will be required to stand, walk, sit, lift, carry, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb, reach, push, pull, handle, and grasp.

HAZARDS:

When responding to emergencies, one can be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, fire, smoke, adverse weather conditions, and chemicals. Driving at speeds beyond the posted limit may occur and, therefore, the incumbent may be exposed to vehicular accidents at a higher speed than normal. There is also exposure to body substances that may contain infectious materials that could cause illness or death. There is potential for bodily harm or death from violent patients, bystanders, or other dangers.
