Network Engineer

Leidos has an opening for a Network Engineer to support a program for the ESA-V supporting the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) at a location in the District of Columbia. The program provides a range of IT services, including network support. This position will be responsible for overall network engineering support including planning, designing, and evaluating various components of the network. Duties may include providing specifications for network architecture, evaluating, and recommending new technologies to enhance current capabilities, and performing needs assessments. Support level duties may include monitoring, installation, modification, testing and servicing of network equipment.Responsible for entire projects or processes spanning multiple technical areas. Manages large projects or processes while developing solutions to complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple area or disciplines. In addition, the position requires communicating with internal team members across multiple areas and client team members as well as with parties external to the organization (e.g., sub-contractors, vendors, etc.).The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the agencies’ local area network (LAN) and Wi-Fi, maintaining and upgrading network infrastructure, including wired and wireless access points, Zscaler Client-Connector end-user host clients, and Zscaler App-Connector instances, managing and configuring Zscaler Zero-Trust access policies, and providing security upgrades. Further shall continuously improve the quality and efficiency of IT services by implementing industry best practices and enhancing the agency’s zero trust posture.Manage the local area network (LAN) and Wi-Fi, including configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting.Maintain and upgrade network infrastructure, including wireless access points and Zscaler Client-Connectors for internet security clients as required.Maintain and update configuration for all Zscaler services including: Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), and Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX).Configure monitoring tools and perform Analysis of Alternatives to recommend the best monitoring tool for current environment and stakeholder requirements.Provide security upgrades and enhancements to maintain the zero trust posture.Develop and maintain network topology diagrams, as well as network related documentation.Develop presentations as required for client projects.Attend meetings with the customer as required.Provide weekly reporting of issues and projectsAbility and willingness to work extended hours or modified schedule for planned and emergency work.Review, resolve and close incidents, service requests and change request and collaborate with the customer and across other program areas for issue resolution within the established SLAsProactively monitor the network infrastructure and resolve any concerns before they become issues.Provide technical direction staff members as project require.Required Qualifications:BS in computer science or related field degree, from an accredited university and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience. Alternatively, MS in computer science or related field degree, from an accredited university with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Minimum 6 years of experience in one or more of the technologies: Ubiquiti, DataDog, ZscalerMinimum 4 years experience configuring and maintaining a Zero Trust environment.Minimum 6 years in configuring, maintaining and operating traditional wired networks.Minimum 4 years of configuring, maintaining and operating Wi-Fi networks.Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experienceAbility to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writingAbility to work with a large diverse team supporting multiple customers in a shared team environment.Monitor and analyze network logs, alerts, and reports to ensure effective threat detection and preventionPerform follow-up through system monitoring and communication with users and other support teamsConfigure and monitor appropriate alerts to allow for quick response to security risksImplement and enforce security policies, including data loss prevention (DLP) and access controlAbility to lead support issues to a successful conclusion while updating management and senior leadership.Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.Candidate selected will be subject to a Government Public Trust security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to the customer’s information.Must be a U.S. CitizenIf you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling.
