Physical Therapist

Job Summary

The Physical Therapist provides comprehensive physical therapy services to patients, including assessment, treatment plan development, implementation, follow-up, and discharge planning. The position actively contributes to clinical aspects of the department, including program development, operations, and performance improvement activities. Additionally, the Physical Therapist supervises and coordinates the training of Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant students, as well as supervising Licensed Physical Therapy Assistants, Rehab Technicians, and Volunteers.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to assess the physical and cognitive abilities of inpatients and outpatients, considering their diagnosis and age-specific needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and their families, incorporating measurable goals and methods to achieve objectives.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including Initial Patient Evaluations, Daily and Weekly Progress notes, and Discharge Summaries.
• Participate in patient care conferences and meetings related to departmental and interdepartmental activities.
• Provide counseling to patients, families, and involved individuals regarding evaluation, care, treatment, and discharge planning to ensure timely and effective transition.
• Assist with the coordination and supervision of Physical Therapy and Physical Therapy Assistant student programs and volunteer efforts.
• Contribute to department operations by orienting new associates and managing patient scheduling to ensure quality coverage and supervision.
• Adhere to the organization's core values and support performance improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with community agencies to facilitate appropriate referrals and expand knowledge of available resources.
• Identify and promote educational opportunities for professional development within the department and community.
• Demonstrate competence in providing patient care aligned with age-specific and developmental needs.
• Adapt assessment and treatment methodologies to accommodate the unique needs of each patient.
• Foster positive professional relationships with medical staff and referral sources.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's, Master's, or entry-level Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution is required.
• Valid and current New Mexico Physical Therapist licensure.
• BLS certification from AHA required.
• Knowledge of modalities and equipment used in the practice of physical therapy.

Work Schedule

The position requires work five days a week, with an eight-hour daily commitment. Availability to work Friday through Tuesday is necessary.

Additional Information

Uniform tops will be provided. The role includes responsibilities across inpatient rehab and acute care settings.
