General Dentistry Dental Officer

Job Description

VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. The General Dentistry dental officer shall be proficient in all aspects of general dentistry including the ability to perform selected specialty services. Specifically, the provider should possess the expertise and competency to perform the following:

Make oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity
Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions.
Administer local anesthesia.
Perform routine and complex restoration of teeth.
Perform simple and complex extractions of teeth.
Perform alveoloplasty and other routine surgical procedures.
Perform prosthetic dentistry to include immediate dentures, full dentures, partial dentures, crowns and fixed bridge work.
Perform routine endodontic procedures on single and multi-canal teeth.
Perform routine and surgical periodontal procedures.

The Dentist treats all Veterans, families and guests with dignity and respect. Listens to and honors Veteran and family perspectives and choices. Veteran and family knowledge, values, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds are incorporated into the delivery of services in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner. Encourages and supports Veterans and families to participate in decision-making at the level they choose. The opportunity for individuals to make personal choices related to their healthcare experience should be paramount. Collaborates with Veterans and families on delivery of services to meet the needs of the Veteran. Practices and fosters the belief in peers that caregiving is best achieved through kindness and compassion and families, friends and loved ones are vital to the healing process. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
