11902 Lowell Avenue, Johnson, Overland Park, KS 66213, United States Community Center Attendant (Tomahawk) Job ID: 1357 Location: Tomahawk Ridge Community Center, Overland Park, KS SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting patrons and monitoring activity areas within the community center. Enforces rules and regulations; checks in patrons, collects fees, sets up and arranges rooms, and performs light custodial duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist patrons in the use of the community center and monitor various activity areas to ensure a safe and healthy environment. Enforce established rules and regulations. Set up and take down equipment, materials, and supplies, as directed. Check in patrons, collect program and event fees, and operate the Class software program for all transactions. Set up and arrange rooms for meetings and other functions. Ensure the room is clean and properly prepared before and after meetings. Distribute equipment and ensure proper use and return of equipment. Perform light custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, picking up trash, etc. Maintain and enforce proper usage of cardiovascular machines during peak times. Work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors, or any other persons or organizations with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals. Be punctual and timely in meeting all performance requirements, including attendance standards and work deadlines, beginning and ending assignments on time, and scheduled work breaks, where applicable.

REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or equivalent. At least 18 years of age. 1 year of experience in a fast‑paced customer service environment.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to learn within two months of employment the Class Recreation Software program. Alpha and numeric recognition.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to distinguish smells. Ability to operate power and/or hand tools such as screwdrivers, hammers, and powered wrenches. Ability to operate fitness equipment. Ability to make and receive phone calls. Ability to operate office equipment such as copy machine, calculator, fax machine, typewriter, and personal computer. Ability to push/pull up to 30 lbs. Hand and eye coordination adequate to input on computer and typewriter. Ability to lift 30 pounds and transport 20 feet. Ability to reach, stand, lift, crawl, bend, stoop, push, pull, and walk. Ability to distinguish colors.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

None. Work Hours: 5:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., Sun. - Sat.; as determined by supervisor. Must be open to working two weekends per month as needed.
