Research Administrator I

Position Summary The College of Nursing is seeking applications for a Research Administrator. This position will provide independent, complex professional support to Nursing faculty and PhD students related to pre-award administration, post-award administration, project close out, and research and compliance. Position responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provides basic budget development assistance, including coordination with subcontract agencies and vendors. Provides basic grant development assistance, provides clarification on application requirements, confirms all required documents have been provided, confirms documents are formatted correctly, develops and provides templates to assist with narrative writing. Coordinates with faculty and staff in other MSU Departments/Colleges as well as the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) for budget preparation, F&A cost distribution and approvals prior to submission, including preparation and routing of the MSU eTransmittal/KC proposal development document. Manages subcontract and sponsor communication; coordinates invoicing of funding sources. Coordinates orders for supplies and services for smaller projects without administrative staff. Reviews award budget quarterly with Investigators; assists with forecasting expenses; prepares interim and final financial progress reports; assists with technical report preparation and submission. Assists with project account closeout activities with MSU CGA and sponsor; assists with final financial report and technical report preparation and submission. Maintains database and file system with required regulatory documentation. This position will require a weekly onsite presence of at least two days per week with the other work days being performed via a remote work schedule. Minimum Requirements Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-yearcollege degree in business administration, finance, or a research-related field; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in researchadministration including the area of pre- or post-award processes, or related field such asregulatory administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The job also requires: completion of Essentials of Research Administration (MSU certificate) or equivalent within one year of hire. Desired Qualifications More than three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research administration including the area of pre- or post-award processes, or related field such as regulatory administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
