Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a new BMT start-up unit, requiring at least 1 year of inpatient oncology experience and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

• BMT unit supporting a new start-up program with initially low patient volume
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
• Every other weekend (or less) required based on staffing needs
• Float required to IMCU depending on background
• Uses Pyxis medication system and EPIC documentation with SBAR communication
• Multidisciplinary provider support including pharmacy, PT, radiology, rapid response, respiratory, transportation, and unit secretary
• 24/7 intensivist, CRNA, hospitalist, anesthesiologist, and NP coverage available

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• BLS (AHA only, no Heart Code) and ACLS (AHA only) certifications required
• Chemotherapy certification required, OCN preferred
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required, 5 years preferred
• BMT, stem cell, or cellular therapy experience strongly preferred
• Experience with administration and management of chemotherapy, including IV push, oral, and continuous infusion methods
• Skilled in central line, PICC line, and port care and access
• Experience recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies such as ATLS, anaphylaxis, sepsis, and hemorrhage
• Experience providing patient and family education and symptom management support

Additional Information

• Opportunity to help establish a new BMT program and mentor existing staff
• Will care for patients receiving stem cell therapies, chemotherapy, and related treatments
• Responsible for managing cytotoxic spills and body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
• 36 hours of orientation provided, including 24 hours on the floor
• Black scrubs required (not provided)
• First-time travelers with a strong clinical background will be considered
