Job Title: Facilities Specialist Apprentice (Monday - Friday 7:55 am - 4:25 pm) Location: Atlanta, Georgia Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job ID: 297539 Overview The Georgia Institute of Technology’s Infrastructure and Sustainability Department is recruiting Facilities Specialist Apprentices. Apprentices will work under experienced maintenance technicians, learning and performing a wide range of maintenance tasks in a two‑year apprenticeship program accredited by the U.S. Department of Labor. Job Summary Assist in the upkeep and repair of facilities and equipment, gaining hands‑on training and 24/7 access to required coursework. Apprentices must be registered in the Facilities Specialist Apprenticeship Program and maintain active enrollment. Responsibilities Register with and maintain the apprenticeship program, meeting all learning objectives. Assist maintenance technicians with routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Participate in troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment malfunctions and assist with repairs. Perform regular maintenance tasks such as lubricating machinery, replacing filters, and cleaning components. Support general repairs on building structures and facilities, including painting, carpentry, and basic construction tasks. Maintain maintenance logs, documenting completed tasks and recording equipment service histories. Participate in safety inspections and adhere to established safety protocols. Attend training sessions and educational programs to enhance technical knowledge and skills. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma/GED or Vocational School Diploma. Acceptance into and active registration with the Facilities Specialist Apprenticeship Program (U.S. Department of Labor). Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a vehicle. Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods, work in confined spaces and at heights, operate manual and power tools, climb ladders and scaffolding, and wear required personal protective equipment. Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems is advantageous. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions closely. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Eagerness to take on new challenges and tackle complex problems. Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with rotating shifts, nights, and weekends. Basic computer literacy and proficiency with standard office software. Punctuality and reliability in meeting work schedules and deadlines. Willingness to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines. Required Experience 0–1 year of job‑related experience.
