Purchasing Agent

Summary This position is located within the Prosthetic & Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) under the Prosthetic Service Line at Salisbury VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC. Qualifications To qualify for this position at the GS‑6 level, you must meet the following criteria: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑5 in the Federal Service directly related to purchasing medical equipment and services, including interpreting prescriptions, maintaining contact with vendors and staff, utilizing databases, purchasing with agency cards, and reconciling charges. Physical Demand The work is primarily sedentary but may involve walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items such as papers and books. Duties This is not a virtual position – you must live within or be willing to relocate within a commutable distance of the duty location. Perform technical‑level purchasing support in accordance with FAR, VAAR, VHA, Prosthetics Directives, and VISN policies to acquire patient‑specific medical equipment, supplies, and services. Facilitate rentals and acquisitions encompassing outpatient durable medical equipment, rehabilitation equipment, mobility aids, neuro‑sensory aids, home oxygen, and inpatient surgical implants and supplies. Directly purchase medical supplies and services using standard methods for the administrative and clinical services. Determine any additional information needed to support or complete purchase requests. Assess whether requests can be satisfied from Government sources. Develop requests for quotation and actively seek new vendors. Evaluate bids, proposals, and solicited competitive offers, and document all recommendations and actions. Compile statistics and prepare reports on purchasing activities. Perform other related duties as assigned. Work schedule: Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. #J-18808-Ljbffr
