Job DescriptionAs an Ultrasound Technologist, you’ll perform diagnostic sonography examinations and provide physicians with accurate imaging and clinical information to support patient assessment and treatment. You’ll use independent judgment throughout examinations to distinguish normal from pathological findings, adapt procedures based on patient history and diagnostic needs, and bring relevant emergency and trauma imaging experience to the role.

Responsibilities
- Perform clinical assessments and diagnostic sonography examinations as ordered by physicians, adapting procedures to anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic findings.
- Evaluate sonograms using independent clinical judgment to obtain appropriate diagnostic information and distinguish normal from pathological findings.
- Synthesize imaging findings with patient history and available clinical information, prepare preliminary reports, and communicate findings to physicians according to established procedures.
- Prepare and support patients throughout examinations while maintaining their safety, comfort, and well-being.
- Coordinate with physicians, imaging personnel, and other healthcare team members to support appropriate patient care and address issues as they arise.
- Support daily sonography operations, including scheduling coordination, patient logs, examination documentation, equipment reporting, and laboratory accreditation activities.
Requirements
- Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology program.
- Minimum 2 years of recent practical ultrasound imaging experience in a hospital or clinic environment.
- Diagnostic ultrasound experience with emergency and trauma patients is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and current compliance with applicable Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to operate sonographic equipment, evaluate diagnostic images, integrate imaging with patient history and medical records, and use independent judgment during examinations.
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Card holder required; valid U.S. passport with at least 18 months remaining before expiration; ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government MRPT security clearance; ability to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the assignment.
- Ability to meet program physical readiness standards.
Preferred
- Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
- Experience with digital image acquisition and transmission.
- Formal radiologic technology training from an AMA-approved school with ability to meet requirements for ARRT and/or CRT registry.
- Experience with, or interest in learning, general X-ray technician duties.
