Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring at least 1 year of PCU experience and current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on the Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Telemetry)
• Cares for acutely ill adult patients with cardiac, neuro, renal, infectious disease, pulmonary, and other medical conditions
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 7:15
• Required to work every other Saturday with every Sunday off
• Uses Meditech charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/Telemetry nursing experience required
• Meditech charting experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral/PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team involvement
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with insulin protocols, heparin protocols, and management of cardiac/vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization and pre/post hemodialysis management

Additional Information

• Coordinate direct patient care and provide patient education on a busy PCU/Telemetry unit
• Zero-tolerance policy for THC, including medical marijuana cards, with drug screening required during compliance and again on day one
• Fit testing required; candidates must be clean-shaven unless an approved medical exemption is provided prior to start
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
• Holiday coverage expectations scale with the number of holidays falling within the assignment period
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply if they meet the minimum PCU experience requirement
• Local candidates are not accepted, and permanent address must be 50+ miles from the facility
• Previous perm employees of the facility within the last 24 months are not eligible for consideration
