Inova Fairfax Hospital is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Nurse Fellow to join our Psychiatric Mood Disorders Unit on the night shift. This is a full-time position with a 3 x 12-hour shift schedule (7:00 pm to 7:30 am). We welcome acute care Registered Nurses who are enthusiastic about working with the psychiatric patient population and are eager to make a positive impact in this specialty.

As a Registered Nurse (RN) Fellow, you will communicate effectively with patients, families, team members and medical providers. To help achieve our mission, you will create a collaborative team working environment while displaying respect for and an understanding of various clinical disciplines. Using a focused and integrated approach toward improving desired patient outcomes and patient experience of care delivery is of vital importance. Your participation in learning new knowledge, developing new skills and meeting program objectives to be able to practice in assigned patient care delivery settings while utilizing and applying new knowledge is essential. Demonstrating a willingness to learn under the direct supervision of an experienced RN and through various other training formats is required.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs biopsychosocial assessments on patients
• Provides medications and treatments to patients
• Serves as a resource for patients and families regarding medical questions
• Develops plan of care
• Works with the interdisciplinary team to assist adult patient to meet treatment goals
• Reports to the Clinical Director

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience Required: 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience
• Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
• Certification: BLS certification required through American Heart Association
• Licensure - Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous inpatient hospital experience preferred
