Role Snapshot

As an Industrial Welding Systems Maintenance Specialist, you’ll be the person who keeps our welding, gouging, and blasting equipment mission-ready—whether that’s on the shop floor or at industrial field sites. About 70% of your time is spent in our local warehouse; roughly 30% is on the road supporting field projects.

Compensation: $20–$27/hr base. Field rotations run on a 7/12 schedule with straight time, overtime, and double-time on Sundays and Holidays, significantly increasing earnings during those periods. Non-field (warehouse) schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

A Day in the Life

Warehouse rotation (most weeks): You start with equipment checks, updating logs, and prepping gear for upcoming overlay projects. You diagnose and repair machines, stage tooling for safe and efficient deployment, and assist with R&D fabrication and testing. You maintain tidy work areas and keep inventory current so each project launches smoothly.

Field rotation (about 30% of the time): You arrive early on site, set up overlay systems, verify parameters, and calibrate welding and support equipment. You coordinate with welding and NDE teams, demonstrate correct equipment positioning, and respond quickly to any issues that could impact safety, quality, or schedule.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain readiness of welding, gouging, and blasting systems for shop and field use; perform repairs and calibrations.
• Prepare, stage, and install all equipment for weld overlay projects with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and housekeeping.
• Monitor performance of overlay machines and support gear; keep operations within safe parameters for quality results.
• Support NDE activities (e.g., VT, PT, UT thickness) as training and certifications allow.
• Keep equipment logs and manage site inventories of materials and consumables; ensure traceability and accountability.
• Use original equipment checklists to account for and store gear; tag and report any missing or defective items.
• Train and assist welders and NDE personnel on proper equipment use and positioning.
• Assist craft personnel (welders, laborers) as needed across various project tasks.
• Help with warehouse duties: repairing, testing, fabrication R&D, and general support.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures; meet quality and productivity targets.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in weld overlay and/or industrial construction preferred.
• Hands-on proficiency with common welding-industry tools and equipment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfort with computers and common software (e.g., MS Excel).
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely.
• Flexibility for varying schedules, including field rotations.
• Commitment to ethical conduct and compliance with company policies and employment screening requirements.

Physical Demands

Work occurs in and around heavy construction and maintenance sites in varied weather and environmental conditions. You’ll stand and walk for extended periods, climb ladders and scaffolding, bend, stoop, push, carry, and maneuver equipment up to 100 pounds. Ability to work in confined, noisy spaces with elevated temperatures and humidity is required.

Settings include warehouse, shop, and field locations at diverse industrial sites. Tools and equipment may include company vehicles, laptops, cell phones, radios, potential heavy equipment, and a range of welding-industry tools and support systems.
