Job no: 547836. Work type: Staff. Position Summary The University Police Department (UPD) enforces laws, maintains order, and provides safety services to SF State community members. The department emphasizes public service, crime prevention, and community-oriented policing. Responsibilities include patrols, investigations, law enforcement duties, and participation in special assignments. Minimum Qualifications Valid California Driver's License and completion of CSU Defensive Driver's Training. Must be a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. Knowledge of law enforcement methods, criminal codes, effective communication skills, and ability to handle emergency situations. High school diploma or equivalent, and successful completion of a P.O.S.T. certified training program with a Basic Course Certificate. Preferred Qualifications No felony or domestic violence misdemeanor convictions. Successful completion of P.O.S.T. background checks, polygraph, medical, psychological exams, and criminal records check. U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residence with citizenship application in process. Minimum age of 21 at appointment. Good moral character and physical fitness for active duty.
