A Brief Overview Serves as an organizational expert and advocate for quality and patient safety data systems, ensuring these systems effectively support strategic goals, regulatory requirements, and high quality patient care. Reporting to the Director of Quality & Patient Safety, this role collaborates with medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, and the quality and patient safety team to identify improvement opportunities and translate them into actionable, data driven solutions. The Quality & Patient Safety Clinical Informaticist leverages clinical knowledge, informatics expertise, and strong analytical skills to enhance patient outcomes, optimize workflows, and strengthen the organization's culture of safety. Essential Functions Quality & Patient Safety Data Leadership: Serve as the subject matter expert for quality and patient safety data systems, driving their effective use to support organizational and departmental strategic goals. Leverage data analysis, workflow evaluation, and collaboration with clinical and operational leaders to identify improvement opportunities, enhance operational performance, and advance quality and patient safety initiatives. Foster strong relationships with physicians, clinical leaders, department managers, and external stakeholders to promote data-informed clinical decision making and recommend system enhancements that support safe, evidence-based practices. Data Analytics, Reporting & Presentation: Prepare and present clear, accurate, and actionable quality, performance improvement, and patient safety reports to interdisciplinary committees, leadership teams, and frontline staff to support high-quality patient care and informed decision making. Collaborate with key stakeholders and data analytics teams to interpret trends, ensure timely and accurate data delivery, streamline reporting processes, and identify opportunities for operational improvement. Promote the use of data-driven insights to advance quality and safety initiatives, strengthen organizational performance, and mentor colleagues in the effective preparation, interpretation, and communication of quality and patient safety data. Clinical Informatics & Workflow Optimization: Translate clinical and operational needs into informatics solutions that improve patient safety, reduce practice variation, and enhance workflow efficiency. Support the design, testing, implementation, and optimization of EHR tools, including dashboards, alerts, documentation templates, and clinical decision support solutions. Research, evaluate, and communicate emerging quality and patient safety technologies, tools, and methodologies, recommending innovations that strengthen evidence-based practice, improve outcomes, and support organizational goals. Improvement Science & Project Facilitation: Serve as a facilitator for project management and performance improvement activities, applying rapid-cycle improvement methodologies and change management principles to support successful implementation and sustained adoption of quality and patient safety initiatives. Provide data-driven insights and workflow expertise to advance patient safety, clinical effectiveness, and infection prevention efforts, while partnering with clinical and operational leaders to improve outcomes, reduce risk, and enhance care delivery. Education Qualifications Master's Degree in Nursing, Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health, Health Informatics, or a related field Required Experience Qualifications 3 years clinical experience in a healthcare setting Required and 1-3 years Experience in quality improvement, patient safety, or clinical informatics Required and 1-3 years Familiarity EPIC and data analytics tools Required Skills And Abilities Expertise in quality and patient safety data systems, with strong analytical capabilities and proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools. (High proficiency) Deep understanding of clinical workflows, patient safety principles, and improvement science, complemented by strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills. (High proficiency) Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation abilities, with a proven capacity to mentor others and build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams. (High proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Active clinical license (RN, PharmD, etc.) Preferred and Certifications such as CPHQ, CPPS, or Clinical Informatics certification strongly Preferred Children’s is the very best for kids and the very best for your career!
