Job Description

This Medical Office Assistant role supports an Internal Medicine office by providing high-quality administrative and clinical coordination during regular weekday hours. The position requires strong proficiency with EPIC and other electronic medical record (EMR) systems, along with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to ensure smooth daily operations and exceptional patient service.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive administrative support to an Internal Medicine office, ensuring efficient daily operations.

• Manage patient scheduling, appointment check-in and check-out, and related front-desk activities.

• Use EPIC and other EMR systems to accurately enter, update, and maintain patient information and medical records.

• Monitor and manage in-basket messages within EPIC, including routing information, responding to inquiries, and supporting clinical workflows.

• Coordinate communication between patients and clinical staff, ensuring timely follow-up and clear information sharing.

• Organize and prioritize multiple tasks throughout the day while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.

• Support providers and clinical staff with administrative tasks related to Internal Medicine care.

• Maintain a professional, team-oriented attitude and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

• Uphold confidentiality and privacy standards when handling patient information and documentation.

• Contribute to a welcoming and efficient office environment through reliable, consistent support.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system.

• Experience using EMR systems to manage patient information and clinical workflows.

• Ability to manage in-basket messages within EPIC or similar systems.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.

• Demonstrated ability to work as a team player in a medical office setting.

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Prior experience in an Internal Medicine office (highly preferred).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience providing administrative support in a medical or healthcare office.

• Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.

Work Environment

This role is based in an Internal Medicine office operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break for a 40-hour workweek. The environment is team-oriented and collaborative, with daily use of EPIC and other EMR technologies to support patient care and administrative processes. The position involves standard office-based duties, working closely with clinical and administrative staff in a professional healthcare setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Haven, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
