Buyer (Entry-Level Purchasing) - Baton Rouge, LA

Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting on behalf of a confidential industrial client in Baton Rouge, LA for a Full-Time Buyer . This is an excellent opportunity for someone with purchasing experience who is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to build a career in procurement within a fast-paced industrial environment.

Pay: $42,000-$55,000 annually (Exempt)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Location: Baton Rouge, LA

Position Summary

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials, tubular steel products, equipment, and supplies from approved vendors. This role works closely with suppliers to negotiate pricing, evaluate quotes, and ensure materials are purchased in a timely and cost-effective manner while supporting company operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Purchase materials, tubular steel products, equipment, and supplies from vendors
• Solicit and evaluate vendor quotes to ensure competitive pricing and quality
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers
• Identify and maintain relationships with preferred vendors
• Monitor purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
• Collaborate with internal departments to support operational needs
• Follow company purchasing policies and procedures

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of purchasing, procurement, or related experience preferred
• Knowledge of contracts and industrial materials preferred
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work under immediate supervision while following established procedures
