Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. One year of full‑time professional work providing child welfare services (e.g., social, psychological, or correctional counseling, case management, volunteer services coordination for a children’s service program, or juvenile classification coordination). OR a master’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field of study. Necessary Special Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age on the date of application. Must be a citizen of the United States. Must possess a valid driver’s license during employment. Must have good moral character as determined by investigation. Must complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority. Must have no felony convictions. Must agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointing authority. Must supply a fingerprint sample in a manner prescribed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for a fingerprint-based criminal history record check. Must submit to and pass a pre‑employment screening test for use of illegal drugs. Must be able to work nights, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed. Must be able to work remotely or in a physical office location; remote work requires a private, confidential workspace and a hard‑wired internet connection. Must be able to manually type 40 words per minute or higher. Overview A person in this classification is assigned to a crisis‑oriented call center and independently demonstrates skills to conduct an investigatory intake of alleged child abuse and neglect and to appropriately assess the situation to determine next steps to immediately address child safety and risk concerns. This class differs from the DCS Intake Associate*, which operates at the trainee level. Responsibilities Process incoming phone and online intakes to determine assignment for investigation.
