Ultrasound Technologist

Job Summary and Responsibilities Obtains quality ultrasound images of patients and demonstrates competence in following established scanning protocols, adjusting protocols as required. Manages all ultrasound equipment and recognizes significant diagnostic information. Utilizes independent judgment and decision making in complex situations involving the administration of diagnostic ultrasound. Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations (e.g., Meditech and PACS) and ensures proper charges are entered and referring physicians’ orders are verified. Provides patient care in a professional and courteous manner. Prepares examination rooms for ultrasound procedures and monitors inventory of supplies to maintain room cleanliness and neat appearance. Assists the radiology nurse or radiologist in administering medications, performing biopsies, and providing all types of care to the patient. Reviews each exam for technical accuracy and completes the verification process in PACS. Assists Facility System Administrator and Ultrasound Supervisor with PACS cleanup (e.g., unarchived images, unspecifieds). Completes and maintains educational requirements and maintains strict confidentiality regarding employees and patient information according to policy and procedure.
