About the Position

Job Title: Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Neuro Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Hours per Shift: 7 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in neuro surgery outpatient License: Client Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: 2 years of experience in neuro surgery outpatient Description: The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse. Provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research. Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care. Applies the nursing process based upon theory, research, evidence-based practice, and approved organizational nursing standards. Assesses and evaluates patient care needs. Applies critical thinking skills in patient care management. Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care. Prioritizes all aspects of patient care. Teaches, rounds, coaches, and plans after hospital care. Educates patients and caregivers about their plan of care and promotes health. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families, and all team members. Manages assignments within the Care Delivery Model. Role models the tenets of Relationship Centered Care through various actions. Considers the patient's values, preferences, and cultural diversity in all aspects of care. Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients and families. Uses evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' perceptions of care. Initiates service recovery for patients and family members who have concerns. Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening. Supports staff in using evidence-based practices. Conducts purposeful rounding on assigned patients. Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care. Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety. Implements process improvement strategies based on evidence. Engages in peer and institutional review processes. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects. Contributes to quality and safety practices. Implements principles of high reliability to ensure a safe environment for patients. Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps in best practice as needed. Documents nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives. Performs charge nurse duties as assigned. Coordinates with management to ensure resources are utilized appropriately. Escalates material or staffing resource deficits as necessary. Demonstrates patient-focused and cost-effective approaches to care. Documents in compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements. Facilitates patient throughput on a shift basis. Contributes to the environment of care to support clinical colleagues and patients. Advances clinical competence in nursing practice. Projects a professional image to colleagues. Incorporates ethical principles into decision-making for patients and families. Encourages a spirit of scholarship and inquiry for self and others. Acquires knowledge relative to the role and patient population. Participates in shared decision-making through specialty practice councils and unit initiatives.
