Paraeducator - Mod/Severe, In Person, Full Time

Hourly Rate: $25.00 – $27.00 per hour
Location: Redwood City / East Palo Alto, California
Onsite Position – School-Based Services Only

Position Summary

RCM is seeking compassionate and dedicated Paraeducators to provide in-person support services to students within the Redwood City and East Palo Alto area. This is a full-time W2 contract opportunity supporting students during school hours in a school-based setting. Reporting to the school leader and working under the direction of the Education Specialist or other certificated employee, the Paraeducator will provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students in special education and general education environments. The Paraeducator plays a key role in supporting student learning, independence, and access to the educational environment.

Responsibilities

Schedule / Shift

• Full-time, school-year schedule
• Follows the academic calendar
• In-person services at the assigned school location only

Key Duties

• Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce instructional activities and support academic progress
• Assist with the implementation of behavior intervention plans using approved strategies and positive reinforcement techniques
• Support students with social interactions and encourage positive peer relationships
• Provide emotional support, guidance, and model appropriate behaviors and attitudes
• Assist students during field trips, school assemblies, and other school activities
• Provide testing accommodations including separate setting supervision and extended testing support
• Maintain accurate student progress records, behavior logs, and data trackers
• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive classroom environment
• Support students with personal care needs including toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming, and other self-help skills as needed
• Report suspected health concerns to appropriate school personnel
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with legal requirements
• Assist with classroom instruction during temporary absences of the Education Specialist
• Attend IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and Student Study Team meetings as requested
• Maintain consistent and punctual attendance during school work hours
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Education

• Required:
  • Completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (minimum 48 semester hours or equivalent), OR
  • Associate degree or higher, OR
  • Successful completion of the CBEST or local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting instruction

Experience

• Paid or volunteer experience working with individuals with autism and/or behavioral deficits preferred

Skills

• Ability to support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
• Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
• Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and follow school procedures
• Experience working in educational or special education settings preferred
