Job Title Senior Project Manager - Water Services Job Site Location South Carolina – Greenville (Columbia or Greenville possible) Employment Type Regular Job Description CDM Smith has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Water Services Project Manager to join our South Carolina team. The position can be based in our Columbia or Greenville, SC office. The role focuses on client interaction, leading planning and design teams for multi‑discipline projects, and managing multi‑million dollar planning and design projects across water, wastewater, conveyance, storm water facilities, and infrastructure in South Carolina. Responsibilities Manage water/wastewater infrastructure design, permitting, and construction services from early concept development through construction. Serve as a leader of project teams and mentor junior staff, coordinating and reviewing project assignments. Work effectively with key technical specialists, project team members, and delivery managers. Assist with preparation of design drawings and specifications on large, complex, multi‑discipline design projects. Prepare, monitor, and manage project budgets and schedules while managing the firm’s risk. Provide high‑level planning and program analysis work including preparation of technical documents/reports. Stay active in the water services industry, keeping abreast of emerging technologies, research/development opportunities, and conference/committee participation in professional societies. Assist in new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning. Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client requests for proposals (RFPs). Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices. Interface with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide updates to upper management as necessary. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree. 10 years of related experience. PMP (PMI), CCM or DBIA certification required (within 12 months of hire or promotion onto the Approved Project Manager list). Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering. Professional engineering (PE) license. Project management experience on water/wastewater infrastructure design projects in North and/or South Carolina. Alternative project delivery experience. Skills and Abilities Experience with project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, project management software and finance and accounting concepts and practices. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. In-depth knowledge of project goals, drivers, strategies, risks and opportunities. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients. Ability to interact with many people and process a large volume of requests. Excellent personal computer skills, strong knowledge in MS Word and Excel. Strong organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.
