Mechanical Foreman

Responsibilities Selects type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and valves, according to job specifications. Assists foreman in planning the sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers. Cuts pipe using pipe cutter, pipe saw, power tools (band saw), and pipe cutting machine. Threads pipe using threading machine. Performs safe operation of Victaulic roll grooving and cut groove operations. Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe. Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings, using threaded, wrapped, soldering, brazen, fused, or cemented joints, and hand tools. Secures pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools. Conducts safe and professional testing of piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks. Observes and complies with all safety and project rules and all company policies and procedures. Has working knowledge of working around heavy machinery to include hydraulic and lattice cranes. Can rig and signal loads as required. Can set and align process equipment like pumps and blowers. Conducts field layout of piping system and calculates offsets, miters, and fittings as required. Performs other duties as required. Qualifications Always attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety. Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co‑workers. Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines. Ability to read drawings including but not limited to pipe shop drawings, mechanical drawings, and P&ID’s. Excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy objects. Good communication skills. Ability to lead a crew of 3-8 employees in safe and productive execution of the work. Ensures compliance with safety procedures and conducts safe start meetings with the crew daily. Ability to track and document crew hours worked and phase timesheets. Ability to track and measure production of the crew. Ability to plan work activities to ensure proper tools and on‑time delivery of materials and equipment. Physical Demands The role requires significant physical exertion, including the ability to navigate active construction areas with uneven terrain, temporary and permanent stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and personnel hoists. It requires constant standing, walking, and repetitive physical tasks daily. The employee must frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing over 50 pounds with assistance or team‑lifting techniques. This position requires frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and reaching (above and below shoulder level). The employee must possess sufficient physical dexterity and balance to work safely at various heights and in confined spaces. Adequate hearing and visual acuity are essential for tasks such as reading instructions, operating equipment, and ensuring safety. Work Environment The work environment is outdoors and may expose the employee to varying and potentially extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow. It involves exposure to moving mechanical equipment, high noise levels, dust, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, and potential electrical hazards. Work regularly occurs at heights and in confined spaces. The employee must work safely around heavy equipment and construction traffic and consistently use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, in accordance with Clark Construction’s comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Due to project deadlines, the role frequently requires working more than 40 hours per week.
