Fireline Emergency Medical Technician (EMTF)

Employees will receive a training pay rate of $20/hr.NOTE: This is a nationwide position. The company will coordinate your travel to and from the fire. You DO NOT have to live in any specific region to apply. Oregon and California EMTS with Oregon and California EMT Licenses are preferred.Pay - Employees are paid biweekly during the fire season. Employees typically work 16-hour days when deployed to an incident. Employees are paid hourly at their regular pay rate ($32.50/hr) for the first 8 hours worked per day and then overtime ($48.75/hr) for the second 8 hours worked per day. This results in an average of $650/day. Detailed pay practices will be provided upon hire. Training Pay is $20/hr.Duties and responsibilities Conducts patient assessmentsProvides basic emergency medical care to stabilize the condition of the critically ill or injured before transport to a medical facility Confers with the supervising physician or hospital via radio or telephone, providing the patient's medical history and condition. Completes incident and patient paperwork accurately and efficiently (before, during, and after the incident) Responds to emergency calls to protect life and property Combats, extinguishes, and prevents fires Provides emergency medical care to the sick and injured Drives emergency apparatus, including, but not limited to, transport units, UTVs, trucks, ambulances, and other company vehicles Performs related work as required under direct supervision Other duties as assigned Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Qualifications Required Education: Successful completion of an accredited Emergency Medical Technician program. Preferred Experience: Three years of 911 EMS experience and/or clinical experience.Wildland fire medical experience and/or wildland firefighter experience (hand crew, hotshot, etc.)Required Certifications (must be valid and current) At least one state EMT license (CA, and OR are preferred, but as long as you have your NREMT, you can apply for those upon hire).BLS CPR ICS 100, 200, and 700 NWCG S-130, S-190, L-180 Drivers License NWCG S-130 or RT-130 Field Day*NWCG Arduous Pack Test**The Company will provide the Field day and pack test as long as all other online requirements are met. All prospective employees are expected to have availability to fulfill these deployment requirements. You may be expected to deploy within 24 hours of notification of an assignment.Lodging is typically tent camping (the company provides tents/supplies); however, all prospective employees are expected to be comfortable living and working outdoors for several weeks at a time.Food is provided by the incident, but if for some reason food is not available, per diem will be provided.The company pays for, and coordinates travel to and from all incidents.Working conditions The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside. The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level. The worker is subject to extreme cold: Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for more than one hour. The effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity, should be considered. The worker is subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for more than one hour. The effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity, should be considered. Physical requirements Must be able to pass NWCG Arduous Work Capacity Test consisting of a 3-mile walk with a 45-lb pack over level terrain May be required to hike extended distances while carrying a pack and equipmentMust be able to sit and/or stand up to 16 hours daily. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Reach above the shoulder, work with your body, bend at the waist, kneel, crawl, climb stairs, and maneuver rough terrain. Work with arms extended, work with arms above shoulder level, stand, sit, and push.The worker is subject to hazards and atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
