Principal Software Engineer, AI/ML Platforms

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 7 years of applied experience
• Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Proficiency in one or more of Rust, Java, Go, or C++
• Experience designing and leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled development practices across teams, including standards for human review, change traceability, and secure handling of sensitive information
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use and engineering controls, including security, resiliency, data sensitivity, and risk-based governance; ability to influence senior technical leaders on safe scaling and reuse
• Track record of building and operating 24x7, tier 1 online services
• Experience influencing across functions and teams and delivering value at scale
• Experience applying technical expertise and new methods to solve complex problems across multiple disciplines
• Extensive practical experience with cloud-native technologies
• Expertise in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field
• Preferred: Familiarity with open-source OLAP and data technologies such as Apache DataFusion, DuckDB, and Apache Arrow Flight SQL

• Guide strategy and development for multiple products, applications, and technologies across a portfolio
• Develop original code solutions and advance production capabilities across teams and functions
• Design and govern agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows using tools authorized for our enterprise environment, improving delivery speed, code quality, and operational results at scale; establish safeguards for validation, security, resiliency, and reuse
• Use software development lifecycle tools, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation at scale
• Explain complex technical issues, trends, and approaches to leadership to support innovation and informed technology decisions
• Promote adoption of technical methods in specialized areas in line with current product development practices
• Build durable, reusable software frameworks for use across teams and functions
• Influence business, product, and technology teams and manage relationships with senior stakeholders
• Act as the functions subject matter expert
• Build and operate 24x7, tier 1 online services
