Growing together.Position SummaryWe are looking for a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with strong expertise in DevOps, Observability, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Cloud Engineering, and Platform Reliability. This role requires deep hands-on experience in building resilient, scalable, and highly available cloud-native platforms while driving automation, monitoring, security, and operational excellence across enterprise applications.You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary ResponsibilitiesBuild, operate, and support IaaS and PaaS infrastructure in Azure and AWSPartner with development teams to help define, track, and report on SLIs, SLOs, and SLAsContribute to the development and support of platform services, including provisioning, configuration, deployment, and day-to-day operationsImplement and support cloud-native deployments on Azure, including AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service), Azure Container Registry (ACR), Application Gateway, Azure Front Door (AFD), Traffic Manager (ATM), and Key VaultIntegrate applications and platforms with centralized logging, monitoring, metrics, and incident management systemsConfigure and maintain observability tools (dashboards, APMs, alerts) to help engineering teams safely operate applications in productionDesign, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions and automation to address complex reliability challenges with emphasis on responsible technology useLeverage enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline operational workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvementEvaluate emerging technology trends to inform solution design, platform resilience, and strategic innovationParticipate in an on-call rotation to support software and cloud infrastructure, following documented runbooks and escalation pathsSupport root cause analysis efforts and assist with remediation by implementing automation, monitoring improvements, and reliability fixesMaintain and enhance operational tooling, scripts, and frameworks used for platform and service supportPartner closely with development, cloud, security, and networking teams to troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, infrastructure incidents, network routing issues, ingress/egress connectivity problems, and firewall/WAF/Application Gateway issuesConfigure and tune alerts related to performance, availability, cost, security, and compliance signalsFollow and help improve operational processes, contributing automation to reduce manual and repetitive support activitiesYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear directions on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications:3+ years of hands-on experience supporting Kubernetes (managed or bare metal) clusters in production environments3+ years of experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus)3+ years of experience with Microsoft Azure, including AKS, ACR, Virtual Networks (VNets), Subnets, NSGs, Load Balancers, Private Endpoints, Application Gateway, Azure Front Door, and Traffic Manager3+ years of ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation following documented procedures and escalation paths 2+ years of experience in scripting or programming languages such as Python, Go, PowerShell, or Bash for automationPreferred Qualifications:4+ years of experience working in a Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or DevOps roleExperience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation Experience with Azure Key Vault, Certificate Management, Secrets Rotation, Managed Identities, RBAC, and OAuth2/JWT AuthenticationExperience supporting infrastructure and applications in production cloud environmentsExperience interacting with or supporting systems that expose RESTful APIsWorking knowledge of networking fundamentals and common internet protocolsUnderstanding of identity and access management (IAM) concepts and best practicesBasic understanding of security concepts including encryption, PKI, and common application security risks (e.g., OWASP)Familiarity with Kubernetes deployment and GitOps tools such as HelmFamiliarity with IDEs and source control tools such as Visual Studio Code, GitHub, GitLab Experience building or integrating automated remediation workflows, intelligent incident response tooling, or machine learning infrastructureMicrosoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert or Azure Solutions Architect ExpertCertified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)*All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
